Metallic lace: OOTD

Howdy bloggers! I know you have all missed me terribly....right? RIGHT?! For a good 4 weeks I was basically locked inside a dungeoun (ie my house) slaying away the dragons (ie doing my assignments) in my protective armour (ie my pjs). However now that exam/assignment period is over for me this year...I am back! In fact while I write this post the theme song playing through my head is: Without me - Eminem

On Saturday I had a wedding, and anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE weddings. I'm pretty sure I was a cray cray wedding planner/obsessor in my previous life. I love that you get to dress all pretty and see two people declare how crazy in love they are with eachother. I didn't get to take photos while at the actual wedding as a I couldn't fit my darn camera in my miniscule clutch...but here are a few snaps of my outfit before leaving home. I wore a gorgeous dress by Witchery as pictured below, and paired it with white patent heels and a white beaded clutch.

Dress: Witchery
Clutch: Vintage
Shoes: Bellini

Congratulations Josh and Erica!

Can you keep a hair secret?

Howdy all! Hope you have all been fine and dandy. Me? Well I have been so busy with university assignments...so busy in fact that I don't even have time to watch big brother (le sigh).

Amongst my assignment procrastination, I was reading comments on my blog and realised that majority of them were people commenting on my hair. Believe it or not my hair never was this long...or healthy. Matter of fact I would use the word pubic hair to describe its appearance in past days *shakes fist at bleach* but alas those days are gone! and I really do put it down to the following two products..along with not letter hair dye within a metre radius of my precious locks.

Organix Coconut Milk
The product on the right is coconut milk that also has egg whites and coconut oil included in it. All I need is a little squirt and I than apply it to the ends of my towel dried hair. The rare occassion that I have forgotten to use this product, I felt that my hair was really dry and lacked the shine that I like. This product lasts a loooong time, maybe ill be able to pass the same bottle pictured onto my grandchildrens children? (the likelihood of that is quite low but one can dream). You can purchase this product from Coles for about $7.

Rokk Ebony Heat Protection Primer
This product is so.freaking.good! I basically spray it onto my hair when it is dry before using any heating tool. I even done a test by spraying one half of my head with the primer and not spraying the other half. After straightening I found the side with the primer to be so much smoother and glossier without looking oily. I also purchase this product from Coles but I buy it in a pack with shampoo and conditioner...can't really remember the price but it is relatively cheap!

So there you have it folks...the two products which I really do believe have made my hair what it is today. Happy reading xo

Flower my day

I won't lie, i'm a sucker for a good family day out...and for flowers. So with that combo I couldn't help but agree to going to the Tulip festival held in Bowral over the long weekend that just passed (yes this blog post is a teeeny weeny bit delayed...please dont shoot me!). It was only mama bear, papa bear, my sister Amy and I that attended. Sadly my older brother and sister were M.I.A but i'll forgive them this ONE time *shakes fist in their general direction*

I wont lie, I done the sneaky and stole 2 0:)

cayoootie pies
mama bear even taught us how to make daisy chains!

What is this 'tulip festival' all about?
It's a festival held once a year during spring for about a week, where you drive all the way to Bowral to lay your eyes upon thousands and thousands of tulips. The population is pretty much oldies > youngies but who says nan and pop aren't any fun? It costs about $7 entry for a student to enter but if your in a group it works out cheaper. Here's the site if your a granny like me and are into spending a day amongst the blooms :) http://www.southern-highlands.com.au/tulip-time

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess

This my blogger friends is by far my favourite bronzer to use (i think i may even prefer it over my nars 'orgasm' blush...but lets keep that between you and I!). I have used this product almost everyday for the past year and find that it gives me a natural glow on my dull days where I feel like lounging around in my sweat pants eating a tonne of hersheys cookies and cream chocolate (why must this form of chocolate be so hard to access in Australia?!). Ok...back to make up talk. This bronzer truly is a must have and has without a doubt won my heart over. The only negative however that I must mention is that at times foundation tends to clump up on the bronzer, but i just scratch it off with my nails and it's perfecto again :)

herrow :)

I swear i'm not nakies!

Hope you have all been fine and kirpy xo

Beach festivities

On Satdee my good pal Bec celebrated her graduation on Brighton beach. I was feeling super girly that day so I decided to slip into one of my favourite dresses that I own. When i first laid my eyes upon this Sportsgirl dress, it felt as though I was teleported back into a sleep over that was held in the Elizabethan period. Which was a valid enough reason for me to buy it i say! This is pretty much a bunch of photos to sum up the day...and to represent the lazy sloth state that I am currently in

This necklace from Forever New always amps up the pretty factor of any outfit :)

Confession: wind is no.1 on my 'things I hate' list

 Congrats laydeh!

Rose hip oil

Rose hip this...rose hip that...i want to marry rose hip...rose hip...rose hip...rose hip! it seems to be the hottest thing on everyones lips. But which one takes the gold medal home for being the best? Being a proud user of rose hip for a solid year now -pops collar- i thought I would share with you the three brands that managed to land a spot on ma face...or in the bottom of my drawer

Lets start with the basics...

What the hec is rose hip oil?
It is a cold pressed oil that is taken from the fruit of the rose bush.
What does it do?
It supports the skins collagen and elastin. Making your skin smoother and more hydrated. Rose hip oil is perfect for acne scars (my 26 year old sister is living proof of this), ageing skin, eczma, sun damaged skin or dry skin.
How do I apply it?
Rose hip oil can be applied whenever you desire...wherever you desire (yes even while you are on the toilet if that is what pleases you). However I personally find that due to the oily appearance it initially gives your skin that it is better to be applied before going to bed..and when you wake up you wake up like a total babe with glowin' skin

   Lelan Vital Organics                Kosmea                                Trilogy
3rd place: Kosmea Rose Hip Oil
From the discoloured lid you can probably tell that I wasn't really a fan of this brand because it smelt kinda weird? Every night when i applied it, it felt as though I was applying a smelly fish onto my face (don't judge my odd sense of smell!) I also found that the texture was greasy rather than oily? hence leaving me feeling like a walking deep fried beer battered fish

2nd place: Lelan Vital Rose Hip Oil
This one ALMOST got the gold medal. It applies really well and left my skin feel super duper hydrated/moist upon waking up the next day.  I personally found this to have the strongest scent out of all of them - but in a good rose smelling kinda way? This one is my mums favourite..and being like every other European mother she went out and literally bought a bajillion of them (however that may or may not be linked to the fact that this brand is the cheapest of them all...and we all know that mama loves a good special)

ANNND THE WINNER ISSSS

1st place: Trilogy Rose Hip Oil
Bet you wouldn't have guessed ha? :P This liquid goodness has the perfect texture for my skin. It applies oily not greasy and has a pleasant smell which is barely even there. I would definitely recommend getting your hiney to the supermarket to purchase this product...NOW!

Date night

Saturday night I was all smiles because:
1. I finally got to eat at The Pantry in Manly
2. I got to debut my new blue pants
AND
3. I got plenty of huggles and kisses from David

definitely no complaints on my behalf...or my rumbly tummy's!

Lately I have been obsessed with hair that says vintage and sleek..so i got a little adventurous with my GHD and managed to come up with this:
excuse the poor photo quality *shakes fist at ipad camera*
After a 1.5 hour drive to Manly (sometimes living in the western suburbs is such a pain in the bum bum) we finally made it to The Pantry! It had such a nice rustic vibe inside and the view of the beach was preeeetty sweet. However I ordered gnocchi (or as David calls 'nooki' ha-ha) and found it to be rather cold. This made my stummy very sad :( I didn't manage to take photos of my food though cause I always get really really awkward when I whip my camera out...I feel as though people think im going to go home and touch myself over my food images

He is totally babe-n in this shot so i just had to put it up

We than headed down to Ben and Jerry's where I FINALLY got to try this slice of heaven. David said he found none of the flavours 'appealing' (pffft what would men know about desserts anyway :P )

Top: ally $15
Pants: mink $30
Beaded clutch: $3 from st vinnies
Lipstick: Candy by Estee Lauder
I be sippin' my chamomile tea in my new mug errrday (thanks boo!)

Berry Haute

I'm la la laaaving how colour is in this season because it means everyone has an excuse to pull out their crazy hot pink pants...or in my case this crazy hot berry lipstick!
Revlon Berry Haute (660) lipstick
price: $8

This colour is really nice as i find its a change from the pinks that everyone seems to be doing nowadays. The colour comes out really vibrant on the lips without having to re apply layer over layer. The only negative is that it doesn't last as long as I would like it to...I think its because of how creamy it applies. Otherwise I can't really complain!
Oh hey awkward face shot

Happy birthday to me!

I'm pretty sure after the intense feasting that went down for my 21st last week that I still cannot do up the buttons on my pants. I had such a dandy time with all the family and friends that have pitched a tent in my heart permanently. Heres a few snippets of what my birthday looked like!

Amanda thought it would be heaps hilarious to get me a lolly watch
I had such an amazing birthday weekend thanks to all my cupcakes!

Lush Buffy Body Butter

So i want you to close your eyes and visualise a big bucket of soft melted butter...now i want you to walk towards that bucket and pour it all over your bowdeh. Mmmm feels good dont it? (I feel so seedy saying all of this he-he-he *strokes mo*)

Ok now open your eyes!

That my friends is how you feel after using the Buffy Body Butter by Lush. After talking to the worker at Lush and whinging about my problems with ingrown hairs, she came to the conclusion that this was the product for me.

HOW TO USE: you basically jump in a warm shower and start scrubbing your entire body with the bar. You will find the product literally melts onto your skin, while the grounded almond does its job in scrubbing away any dead stuff!

DID THIS PRODUCT LEAVE ME FEELING KIRPY?:  I found that it didn't quite fix my little problem of ingrown hairs however it did leave my skin feeling softer and more moisturised than ever. The only downfall is that because this product is made out of cocoa butter, it melts away vey fast in the warm shower water...therefore leaving you with approximately 6 uses (which isn't very much in my opinion). At first I felt a little hesitant about paying $15.95 for a little bar of body scrub ( don't judge me im a poor uni student D: ) but it was totally worth the feeling of walking out of the shower feeling like a walking ball of melting butter

Ellis faas milky eyes in metallic bronze

Anyone that knows me knows that I am completely un-co when it comes to applying eye shadow...I always seem to make a big mess and end up looking like I have been in a gang fight with my eyeshadow. So for a few months now I have been on a quest to find the perfect eye shadow to solve this problem. It was when I was in the mecca store that this quest was over as I laid my eyes upon the Ellis Faas Milky Eyes in Metallic Bronze

As you can see the Elli Faas eye shadow comes in a bullet shaped pen making it easy to carry around in your makeup bag. The brush applicator also assists with precise application, however I also used my finger tip to blend it in a little.

I applied the ellis faas eyeshadow over my entire lid and than used a brown powder eyeshadow from my estee lauder eyeshadow compact to create a smokey look (hello boysss)

PROS:
- throughout the day it did not crease or crumble (and i literally mean not one crease or crumble! yes i am amazed!)
- the eyeshadow dries in about 5-10 seconds into a matte texture which gives you enough time to apply and blend it in
- it is very pigmented, giving the desired colour in one application. I was suprised by how intense the colour was and it remained that colour till the moment I took it off (which was atleast 5 hours later)

CONS:
- when not in use the eyeshadow tends to get caught in the lid which is a bit of a waste

PRICE: $52 from mecca

FINAL VERDICT: Its the colour and long lasting-ness (if that's even a word) of this liquid eye shadow that has won me over. I am so in love with it in fact that I cannot wait to purchase the other 4 colours from the ellis faas milky eyes range. Goodbye wallet...hello pretty eyes! :)
